- UNIX Operating System was first developed by
AT&T then letter release to educational institution for public use. At the institute,
student updated Unix by adding many tools and options that made it extremely flexible,
cryptic, and powerful operating system. Today, Sun and Silicon Graphics carry hardware for
UNIX Operating System. UNIX, being a powerful operating system was one of the few systems
that most of the Internet was developed on [there was time when Web servers ran only on
UNIX]. Also, most Web server and management tools were first develop on UNIX and letter
transported.
UNIX system requires all users to have a password in order to ensure security to each
individual user. UNIX like DOS uses command prompts. There are few commands that are
similar in both DOS and UNIX. UNIX uses "Ls" while DOS uses "DIR" to
