Microsoft word is the one application program that is used often. Word application
provide the processor for creating letter, memo, report, envelope, Web pages, newsletter,
mailing labels, plain text, and many other text related documents. For everyday text
document as well as a large body for text like reports, surveys, research paper and,
whatever other needs you have, you can use Microsoft words. For additional information on

Note: In these answers we will follow a few shorthand conventions for
describing user-interface procedures. Key combinations will be presented like this: Ctrl+Alt+Delete,
which means that you should press and hold down the Control key, the Alt key, and the
Delete key at the same time. Menu selections will be presented like this: File->Open,
which means that you should open the File menu, and then make the Open selection.

When you start Word, the screen contains a fresh document surrounded by a"
dashboard" of handy buttons, menus, and other tools that you can use to work on your
document. The first toolbar contains a list of names: File, Edit, View, Insert, Format,
etc.
- File-> gives you an option of creating, saving, and printing a file.
- Edit-> menu gives us the option of cutting a paragraph, copying a paragraph, pasting
a paragraph. Undoing the last modification you did to your document.
- View->gives you an option on how you would like the window view to appear.
- Insert-> assist in creating tables, graphs, clip arts and the like.
- Format-> assist in the formatting of the page. For example if you want a bold
heading, or if a certain part of the paragraph is to be symbol, or script.
Each of the heading names is setup to describing what the content in their drop down
menu. FILE, contain means of creating, saving, and printing files. EDIT like its name
states, contain means of deleting, copying, pasting, and the like. For example, HELP, the
last tool bar will bring a window that should assist you with problem or give you
information on how to go about doing certain things. In order to get help from windows
help option, all you need to do is type what you are trying to find. For example, type in
- "writing a letter". Windows help will give you step-by-step assistant in
creating and writing a letter.
You can easily create a mew document from scratch. Or you can save time by using a
wizard or template; wizard and template produces a ready-made document. The documents are
simple to use. They come with an attractive layout that provides you with fill in the
blanks text documents.
To start a document from scratch, type on the blank page that appear when you open the
Microsoft work, or go to FILE->NEW, or press on the new icon button, that first icon
image, that look like a black page.
To start from a wizard or template: File-> New. This will bring seven options:
General, Reports, Letters & Faxes, Memos, Legal Pleadings, Publications, and other.
Select the one that you would like to do. Them double-clink on the icon from the wizard or
template of you choice. This will lead to the production of a "skeleton"
document that can be filled in.
Wizard: It works by taking you step-by-step through creating document. You get to
choose who the document should be setup, from the choice available in MS words.
Template: It provides a preset layout. It gives you a layout that has already be setup
and all you have to do is edit the test to fit your current needs. For more information go

Once you open a document you can begin typing you text. When you reach the end of a
line, don't press ENTER; Word automatically moves to the next line. Press ENTER only when
you want to start a new paragraph.
Fixing typos and inserting symbols: Clink Tool-> AutoCorrect and make sure that on
the AutoCorrect tab the Replace text as you type check box is selected. Scroll
through the AutoCorrect list to see all of the typos and symbols that are fixed
automatically.
To insert a character that is not on the keyboard, such as ÿ or µ or ¶ clink
Insert-> Symbol and clink on the symbol of you choice and press ENTER.
To insert today's date, Insert-> Date and Time.
- Insert text of graphics: If you have AutoText entries for items that use frequently, you
can insert them by typing just a few characters and then pressing ENTER when a "tip
appears, If the tips isn't what you want, just continue typing. If tips don't
appear, clink Tool-> AutoCorrect and then on the AutoText tab make sure that it show
auto complete tip for AutoText and Dates check box is selected
