- Zipped files are normal computer files that are compressed and stored on a disk. The
benefits of Zipped files are they are space and time savers. Many large document,
programs, data are hard to store in a disk because they are an able to hold a large amount
of information. If the files are Zipped then it is time and space beneficial. Also, many
users download files from the Web site to their computer, which can be, time and space
consuming. Zipped files are also convenient for combining different information and
storing them in a same place. They are portable, you can store you program, document, data
and take them anywhere and work on them there. In order to save large files in such a
small space a tactic was used to replace all new lines with symbol "#". These
elements all the text new-line space.
- NOTE: While using WinZip file, if you encounter a problem you can use
the HELP option provided.

- Installing Zipped Files
1. Go to the Start button located
at the left end of your windows screen and click on it.
2. Select the RUN from the menu This will open the Run dialog Box.
3. Click on the Browse button. A browser dialog box will appear.
4. Select ?2?1 Floppy (A:) (youre a drive) and press the OPEN button. A Run dialog
box will appear.
5. This dialog box will have (A:\setup.exe) written on it. If not type the text on the
prentices.
6. Press OK button
7. Setup will start to download your program.
8. After installing you program a Welcome to WinZip dialog box will appear.
9. Press the OK button. A License Agreement and Warranty Disclaimer dialog box will
appear.
10. Read the View License Agreement by pressing on the VIEW LICENSE AGREEMENT button.
11. After you finish Press the YES button.

- Zipping a file.
You can open the WinZip program form the
desktop by pressing on the icon that has Winzip32 or you can go to you Start button on the
left side of you computer screen, and go to program, and select the WinZip32 program.
Once the program is open, press on the New icon or go to FILE, NEW. A New Archive dialog
box will appear.
1. Select the drive your file, document, or program you want the compress file to be
stored at. You can select from the top part the dropdown button at CREATE IN list box.
2. Select the desired directory where your file, document, program is located at.
3. Enter a name for the Zipped file.
4. Press the OK button. The add dialog box will appear
5. Select the appropriate drive your Add From dialog box.
6. Select the appropriate file, document, program name you wanted to compress.
7. Press the OK button
- Unzipped files
1. Open you WinZip program.
2. Once the program is open, press on the Open icon or go to FILE, OPEN. Open
Archive dialog box will appear.
3. Select the drive were the zipped file is location in the Look In list box.
4. Select the appropriate directory where the file is store.
5. Once the file name appears in the File Name space Press the OK button. WinZip will
display the file name in the Archive dialog box.
6. Press the Extract icon.
7. This will extract the zipped file.
